The Astrological Whys of the Coronavirus

I’ve been thinking about the effects of the isolation and lockdown and how it relates to the symbolism of Capricorns’ “fishtail,” and what that can mean collectively. Our quarantine and isolation gives us all a chance to explore the lower quadrant – the fishtail – plummeting to the depths like that old wise one who has retreated to the cave, way up on a mountain top, away from everything and everyone, even if for a short period in time. Our isolation is a time where the pause button is pressed and we have a very rare situation to explore the deepest and most sober questions in life, and to connect right where we stand (on our little blue planet), asking “What really matters and how can we make it better”?
Saturn will soon be retrograde (May 11), leaving Aquarius and heading back into Capricorn. It will pass over the fated 29 degree (July 3), closely coinciding with the birthday of the USA. Like a fishtail that naturally flip-flops on its own, or swims in the “opposite direction” from where it started, this can echo again and again our turbulent times with healthcare, politics, public welfare and the financial world.
The last gasp of Saturn retrograde in Capricorn will get close to Pluto’s station in Capricorn, which may signal a crumbling house of “Plutocrats” trying to continue their same old strategies. Maybe it will be their turn to experience what comes after the fall from grace and the heights of ambition, delving into the deeper symbolism of Capricorn which can be accessed in times of great trouble. The fishtail is the opportunity for wisdom, usually found after great loss.
When Saturn enters Aquarius again in late December 2020, an overwhelming theme could be that Aquarian spirit of democracy and humanitarianism, i.e., “We the people …”
